Western Eagles win DCB Super Series 2016

Western Eagles, the state team from NRW won the DCB Super Series 2016 for the second consecutive time.  This year, Venkatraman Ganesan and Oascoroni Ahamed (Polash) from Blackcaps were part of the Victorious unit. The Super Series is the flagship tournament from DCB pitting the best players of Germany from the 6 regional(State) sides against each other in a T20 league cum knockout format. The first edition had only 3 teams participating with teams formed from combined regions, where as 2016 saw it expanded to 6 teams with each region having their own team.  Western Eagles emerged victorious once again by defeating Hessen Thunders in the semi-finals and winning a nail biter in the finals against Eastern Bears. Venkatraman Ganesan, skipper of Blackcaps and Oascoroni Ahamed (Polash) were part of the Western Eagles squad and made important contributions to the tournament success. Venkat contributed with the bat and ball, top scoring in one of the league games and picking up 4/7 in the semi-finals against Hessen thunders. Polash top scored with 48 not out in one of the league games against Northern Seals. Blackcaps are proud of these boys and we hope to see more Blackcaps members staking their claim for the state side.
